Presecan's Soul Touch

“The Magic River” represents a series of impressions and chromatic sketches, a spiritual stop-over near the mountain rivers close to me. Flickers of light, color spots, shadows and reflections, streams or water stillness, they all stand in my soul for vivid and colorful expressions of the river, a state of eternal harmony and unspoiled beauty. The paintings are an essay of transposing the river and its flow on canvas, in its primary essence as a symbol of life, describing the thrill and animated movement that it embodies. Anul 2011, an in care am "descoperit" pescuitul la musca, a fost anul in care am vazut altfel raul, ca intreg si in acelasi timp detaliu. Pana atunci priveam mai mult ansamblul, fermecat poate de impreunarea brazilor cu cerul si apa intr-un tot unitar. Am fost de multe ori pe aceasta vale, prin Poiana Horii, Ciurtuci pe valea Belisului. Dar de asta data, din martie, fiind si prima iesire mea pe apa cu noua lanseta de "fly" in mana, am privit apa cu alti ochi... poate si de aici mi-a ramas in suflet aceasta imagine pe care am asternut-o pe panza, pana acum in trei variante. ST-ART , Targul European de Arta Contemporana din Strasbourg aflat la a XV-a editie, va avea loc in Centrul Expozitional Strasbourg din Wacken, din 26 pana in 29 noiembrie 2010, cu o avanpremiera in noaptea de joi, 25 noiembrie. Ca in fiecare an din 2005 incoace, ST-ART isi va consolida pozitia ca targ de arta european (cu 40% galerii din strainatate) printr-un omagiu special adus Bucurestiului. Aceasta reprezinta o ocazie unica de a pune in evidenta mostenirea culturala a capitalei si de a-i trece in revista tendintele creative curente. In premiera la acest targ va participa galeria DanaARTGallery ( http://danaartgallery.ro ) din Bucuresti. Vor expune lucrari de pictura Delia Orman, Valeria Diaconu, Laura Avramescu Cherciu si Daniela Zbarcea. Din portofoliul galeriei se vor regasi lucrarile mai multor artisti: Claudiu Presecan , Ioan Oratie, Iovan Eugen, Craciun Daniel, Alexandra Pasca, Alex Csiki, Cristina Tinta, Alina Manole, Andrei Calinescu si Vlad Eftenie. There are times you never forget, some points in your life you feel like crossroad marks. That was my case back in 1994, when I went to Amsterdam for a master class in painting with J. Georg Dokoupil. With those good times on my mind, I went last week at the opening of Dokoupil’s last exhibition ( Dokoupil 100 ) in Prague Castle Riding School with Mara, my wife. It was a good journey; we leaved Cluj in a sunny, yet cold March day. We found the same weather in Prague, sunny but also windy. While attending Dokoupil’s Prague show, the good memories from the class in Amsterdam came on my mind, the time passed since those days, my artistic path ever since. I remember very well his words, on the proposed theme he entitled: “The intelligent line”. I recognized it now in his latest works, there are the same principles he unveiled to us during the workshop: new systems of artistic views, constant changes in art, strong potency on art materials,...

noroc bun, 2009!! I want to share with you some thoughts which were in fact the foreward to my catalogue entitled "Traces on Water" . The catalogue was printed in the summer of '08 , with the generous support of my good friend, Radu Taica... The artist himself is nature, as Paul Klee said, a statement equally simple and true. Everything is expressed and derives from the observation of nature, of certain ideas or impressions, experiences or revelations absorbed from nature. My motivation is strictly pictorial; it is the art of transforming a landscape into a wonderful state of mind. The landscape and nature have surrounded me ever since I was a child, they provided me the joy of a deep and true experience and I have always felt connected to the clear atmosphere of the marks of my own memory, rooted in my own space.
